Going once, going twice, gone! The Huntington Beach Art Center’s (HBAC) Benefit Art Auction is right around the corner, providing an excellent opportunity for patrons to begin or build their art collections

This year’s event, themed ARTini Time III, takes place May 9 – 16 featuring a three-gallery exhibition of art by emerging to established artists, the 3 Inch Going Once, Going Twice, Gone!: Exhibition of Small Works, a site-specific outdoor installation on the HBAC facade, a week of continuous silent bidding, and an assortment of scrumptious food and wine.

The week begins at the Meet the Artists Party on Friday, May 9, 7 – 9 p.m, where the community is invited to mingle with exhibiting artists to learn more about their work. The silent bidding begins that night as each art patron is issued a paddle number so they can bid on their favorite piece(s).

The auction exhibition and silent bidding continues through the week, between May 9 and 16, with many art patrons returning frequently to continue the bidding process. If any patron cannot make it to the Art Center, a proxy bidder is available during the exhibition and at the Live Auction.

On Friday, May 16, collectors and other art patrons begin arriving at 7 p.m. to enjoy the Live Auction Party and continue their bidding. The evening features delectable fare and lush wines by local restaurants, our mix-it-up ARTini Bar, and playful praxis by the artist collective Finishing School. The party dynamically comes to life at 8 p.m. when Dr. Carl Hartman kicks off the Live Auction, using this year’s “chosen shoe” as the gavel, starting a fun and friendly bidding war that results in dozens of delighted patrons taking home their favorite art.
