Skateboarding

Skateboarding is more than just a sport in Huntington Beach. It's an actual mode of transportation! It is common to see skateboarders on public streets and sidewalks in transit to school, work or play. It's fun to watch Surf City USA® skateboarders head toward the beach with their surfboards in hand!

Skateboards are permitted on the 8.5-mile paved path that spans Surf City USA's beach from one end to the other. The city is so supportive of skateboarding that it built two free public skate parks, which offer ledges and ramps ideal for beginning to moderate skateboard riders.

One skate park is located in front of Huntington Beach High School near the corner of Main Street and Yorktown Avenue. The second skate park is visible from Golden West Street near Warner Avenue at Murdy Park. Knee pads and helmets are required in both locations.

Skateboarding is considered a public nuisance in some areas of Huntington Beach, too, so be on the lookout for street signs prohibiting it. Skateboards are outlawed on Main Street and on downtown sidewalks, for instance, as well as at most Huntington Beach shopping malls and strip centers.

Skateboarding is fun and creative way to enjoy Huntington Beach and get around town. Make sure you pack your Surf City USA skateboard when you visit!
